  1. you need to config some startup parameters, at least -useallavailabelcores, so it uses the cpu at all, it also just got a performance update….
also check the slider of scaling, since the game schows on selected resolution, ut might not render at that resolution in default…
and yes, very interested n cheking it after full release, thx

  2. Before the question was if run crysis? Now the questions is: Run Ark? … A suggestion: Try to do the test inside a base with many domesticated dinos, you will see that there will be a lot of processor usage and this when it comes to a raid makes all the difference.

  3. Ok so you're telling me that my rx 480 will run any game at a rock solid 60 fps and then we get to Ark at Epic settings and it can't even manage 30fps. Looks like I'll have to spend 1,200 USD to get a solid 60 fps… sees that a 1,200 dollar GPU doesn't get 60fps at 1080p WAIT WHAT.

  4. Ah, Nvidia Gameworks working at its finest. 😀
No, don't expect this to ever run great. This game has been thoroughly Gameworked…

  5. It's such a shame that even to this date the game is that horribly optimized… I loved playing it and suffered through the performance just for the game play but one day I just couldn't do it anymore and instead of smashing my screen I just quit it.

  6. lets just see what the steam page says you need at minimun to run this game 😛

OS: 64-Bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1, or Windows 8
    Processor: 2 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit CPU
    Memory: 4000 MB RAM
Graphics: DirectX10 Compatible GPU with 1 GB Video RAM
    DirectX: Version 10
    Storage: 40000 MB available space

i never understood that part 😛 i can just say good luck if you did fall for that one

  7. Steve, if you look at the Settings ( 2:01 ), there is a slider "Resolution Scale" which drops when you select higher resolutions…. That's why the resolution didn't seem to work as expected (changes in performance). You should have always maxed out the scale after selecting every preset and when changing the resolution.
I am not playing ARK currently but when i played and tried to optimize my experience, I figured I had better visual results playing at Medium with maxed out the Resolution Scale at 1080p, rather than playing High with a lowered resolution scale slider setting at 1080p. I dunno it kind of blurred the whole image which had worse effect than of that seeing lower quality textures.

  8. Hey man, could you do a benchmark for H1Z1 (Both Just Survive and King of The Kill preferably) @1080p 60hz? I'm interested how my future rig would do with it, adding to that, because the game is such a wobbly shithole, results may vary and could be quite interesting. Oh, also, in the end, it's more popular on Steam than ARK, so now you owe us that benchmark at least 😀

Anyway, thanks for doing what you're doing! Keep at it mate

  9. terrible optimization, my theory on why it runs terribly is as you said, it was only utilizing one cpu core, indicating that if they could patch the game so it can make use of multiple cores, the performance would most likely increase

  10. Hey just to let you know, the cpu is actually the issue here, if you put USEALLAVAILABLECORES in the launch settings, It will use all 8 threads and significantly increase performance. I have a 6700k at 4.6 and a 1080 at 2.1 and 16gb of ram at 3000mhz and I actually needed to force enable vsync on the game through the nvidia software as the game was tearing all over the place due to the ~90 fps average.

Also side note is that this is the only game ive ever seen to have a gameplay impact based on storage device (running a 1tb 960 evo, as this was on a wd red raid 0 array before and it was stuttering a lot before swapping storage location)

  11. My little cousin got a prebuilt pc with a i7-6700 and gtx 1070 and he was playing at 35-40 fps and i was shocked ! Especially since the game looked like garbage on epic graphics level ..

  12. How to play ARK without eye cancer:
    Sky quality to minimum
    Ground Clutter off
Most of the extra options off
    Shadows to low
And maybe d3d10 on AMD Gpus
Now i can run this game on Low-Med 1080p 30fps with my HD7850.
At least my x4 760k (no turboboost) does not bottleneck the game. (Except if i have Chrome opened in the background)

  13. Subscribed — due to an ARK performance test video – thank you! Would like to see some kind of CPU scaling a bit later at different clock speeds.
